Tip: Fix leaky faucets and plumbing joints. Saves 20 gallons per day for every leak stopped.
Tip: Install water-saving shower heads or flow restrictors. Saves 500 to 800 gallons per month.
Tip: Replace your water-guzzling five to seven gallon a flush toilet with a one and a half gallon, ultra-low flush model. That saves up to 300 gallons a month.
Tip: Check toilet for leaks. Put dye tablets or food coloring into the tank. If color appears in the bowl without flushing, there’s a leak that should be repaired. Saves 400 gallons a month.
Tip: Use the garbage disposal less and the garbage more (even better – compost!) Saves 50 to 150 gallons a month and may extend the life of your disposal unit.

Tip: Determine where your home is loosing energy. Check for holes or cracks around your walls, ceilings, windows, doors, light and plumbing fixtures, switches, and electrical outlets that can leak air into or out of your home.
Tip: Have your home’s insulation checked. A good insulating system includes a combination of products and construction techniques that protect a home from outside temperatures, air leaks, and control moisture. These steps can increase the comfort of your home and reduce your heating and cooling needs by up to 10%.
Tip: Replace single pane windows with new double pane windows with high-performance glass. They will help regulate the temperature of your home saving on heating and air conditioning bills.

Problem: Garbage disposal smells like rotten eggs.
Tip: Pour a cup of ice and some lemon rind and pour down the drain. Turn on the disposal and grind them up. Repeat the process as needed.
Problem: Hot water smells like rotten eggs.
Tip: This smell can be caused by a fungus build up in your hot water tank. To clean it, pour chlorine in the tank, let it sit overnight and then flush it out. Repeat several times until the smell goes away. If the smell persists, I recommend that you change your water heater and the problem should go away.
Problem: I have old galvanized water pipes in my house and my water pressure is very low.
Tip: One way to help this problem is to replace the water main pipe between the meter and the house with a pipe one size larger to allow more water in. Another possible solution is to clean or replace the aerators on the faucets and for the shower. I carry special shower heads that work well on low water pressure. The ultimate solution is to re-pipe the entire house with new copper water pipe.
